Quick Start Guide: Software Installation

After you install the hardware, run the eCapture Pro installer to install eCapture Pro, eSDK Pro, and classic eSDK. Then verify the installation in eCapture Pro or eSDK Pro. Use eSDK Pro for new development.

Note: This topic describes the installation flow for version 1.5.0 of eCapture Pro, including bundled eSDK Pro and classic eSDK components. For legacy workflows that require a separate classic eSDK installation, see Overview of eCapture Pro and the Classic eSDK.

Who this is for

System integrators and developers who want to install the Emergent software for this Quick Start and then verify it in eCapture Pro or eSDK Pro.

What you’ll accomplish

  • Download the latest eCapture Pro installer for your operating system.
  • Install eCapture Pro, eSDK Pro, and classic eSDK.
  • Continue to the Quick Start topic that matches your goal to verify that the installation works.

Before you begin

Download the installer

  1. On emergentvisiontec.com, sign in and go to Resources > Downloads > Software.
  2. Expand eCapture Pro to show the available releases.
  3. Download the latest release package (ZIP) for your operating system.
  4. Optional: Open and review the release notes for that release.

Install the software

Follow the installation steps for your operating system.

The eCapture Pro installer installs eCapture Pro, eSDK Pro, and classic eSDK in a single installation flow.

Note: On the installer’s Select Components page, select at least one classic eSDK NIC driver.

Windows

  1. Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
  2. Run the installer (for example, eCaptureProInstaller_1_5_0_Windows.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Linux (Ubuntu)

Important: Do not run the installer with sudo.
  1. Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
  2. Run the installer (for example, ./eCaptureProInstaller_1_5_0_Ubuntu_22_04.run).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

eSDK version conflicts

If classic eSDK is already installed, the installer will show an eSDK Version Conflict dialog. The recommended action is to cancel the installation, uninstall the existing classic eSDK installation, and then rerun the eCapture Pro installer. If you continue instead, the installer uses the existing classic eSDK installation and does not replace it.

To uninstall classic eSDK:

  • On Windows, uninstall classic eSDK from Settings > Apps > Installed apps or from Control Panel > Programs and Features.
  • On Linux, uninstall classic eSDK by using the uninstall_eSdk.sh script from the eSDK install ZIP.
  • If classic eSDK was installed by the eCapture Pro 1.5.0 installer, uninstalling eCapture Pro also uninstalls classic eSDK.
