Install the NIC in the host computer and verify the physical camera connection. After installing eCapture Pro, verify that the operating system recognizes the NIC and that the camera can acquire images.
This topic applies to directly connected cameras without a switch. For camera connection and power instructions, see Hardware Installation.
Make sure that you have:
Shut down the host computer and disconnect its power before installing the NIC.
Connect and power the camera as described in Hardware Installation.
Confirm that:
A link indicator confirms a physical connection. It does not confirm that the operating system recognizes the NIC, that the camera is discoverable, or that image streaming will succeed.
Install eCapture Pro as described in Software Installation.
eCapture Pro installs the required classic eSDK NIC drivers. Do not install a driver from the NIC manufacturer unless Emergent directs you to do so.
Restart the computer if the installation requires it.
After installing eCapture Pro, confirm that the operating system lists the NIC and reports no device or driver error.
In Windows, check Device Manager and the network settings. In Linux, use the network and driver tools appropriate to the distribution.
If the NIC is not detected, confirm that it is fully seated and installed in a compatible PCIe slot. See Troubleshoot Network Interface Cards and Camera Links if the problem continues.
Follow Basic eCapture Pro Usage to discover the camera and view a live image.
For a multi-camera system, verify each camera connection.
If the camera is detected but streaming fails or is unreliable, see Troubleshoot Network Interface Cards and Camera Links.
