PHY SNR Margin

In Emergent Vision cameras, the PHY SNR Margin feature reveals Ethernet PHY signal-to-noise headroom, ensuring robust, error-free links for high-speed imaging.

Positive values above +3 dB indicate a healthy link, while readings below +3 dB may precede packet loss. The feature appears only on Eros HE-T (RJ-45 Base-T) models.

  • Access mode: Read Only
  • Node type: Int32
  • Range: –200 … +200 (raw units = 0.1 dB; e.g., 127 → 12.7 dB)
  • Typical values:
    • 4–13 dB (raw 40–130) Normal for 1–100 meters Cat-6/6A links
    • 3 dB (raw 30) Edge of spec (100 meters limit)
    • < 3 dB Risk of dropped packets, so shorten or upgrade cabling

You can use the eSDK API functions to get the node’s value.
