Welcome to the technical documentation site for Emergent Vision Technologies high-speed cameras!

Emergent documentation and help

This documentation is  organized into five main subjects, which you access through the tabs on the top navigation bar:

  • Cameras:
    • Introduces Emergent Vision Technologies and its high-speed camera families
    • Details the camera feature parameters
    • Explains the modes for triggering area-scan and line-scan cameras
    • Describes the camera hardware, including data interfaces, GPIO ports, LEDs, and mounts
  • Software:
    • The Quick Start Guide explains how to start using eCapture Pro and the Emergent SDK
    • The eCapture Pro Users Guide provides details about the GUI and how to configure and manage cameras and recordings
    • The Emergent Vision Camera Programmers Guide helps you get started with the Emergent Vision Technologies camera API and SDK

Note: Tabs on the top navigation bar will be enabled when the content is available.

To search the documentation:

  1. Enter search terms in the search field on the top navigation bar and press Enter or click the search icon. The search results will display topics that best match the search terms.
    Note: Currently you can't limit search results to exact matches.
  2. Click on a result link to view the topic.

To browse the documentation:

  1. Select a tab on the top navigation bar—currently, Cameras and Software are available.
  2. In the left navigation panel, choose a topic. The main panel displays the content.
    Tip: Longer topics have a right navigation panel that lets you jump to sections in the topic.
  3. To return to the documentation home page, click the Cameras tab.

To view topics in the Camera Features section on the Cameras tab:

  1. Select a Camera Family on the left navigation panel.
  2. Select a Camera Model.
  3. Select a Camera Feature. The main panel displays the topic.

To visit the Emergent Vision Technologies main website, click the company logo on the top navigation bar.

Emergent’s camera models are grouped into area-scan and line-scan GigE camera families.

Camera Features

Emergent’s camera features (or parameters) allow you to configure and use the camera with either the eCapture application or API.

The features of each camera model depend on its firmware and corresponding GenICam XML file. In this documentation, when you select a camera model, the XML file is used to list only that model's current features in the left navigation bar.

Camera Trigger Modes

Emergent’s cameras support various trigger modes, allowing flexible image acquisition control.

Triggering

Area-scan camera trigger modes:

  • AS-A: All internal triggering
  • AS-B: Software triggers
  • AS-C: PTP triggers
  • AS-D1: Hardware triggers with internal exposure settings
  • AS-D2: Hardware triggers with external exposure settings

Line-scan camera trigger modes:

  • LS-A: All internal triggering
  • LS-B: External frame triggers
  • LS-C: External frame triggers and encoder line time triggers
  • LS-D: Encoder frame triggers and encoder line time triggers
  • LS-E: External trigger masks/pulses and encoder line time triggers
Tip: The trigger mode topics are in the Camera Image Acquisition section on the left navigation panel.
